It's Victory Garden Season

Every year we set aside an area for residents to enjoy their gardening skills and get some exercise at the same time. Whether you had a garden last year or are a first-time gardener and wish to take advantage of the opportunity this year, please download the form, complete it and return it to the Community Office or place it in one of the green drop boxes by Friday, March 17, 2017.

One garden plot will be assigned per resident. Extra plots may be available after the April drawing. All gardeners must turn in a request form. Previous gardeners will be assigned their prior plot on receipt of their application.

Victory Garden Lottery

First-time gardeners, and residents with gardens who would like an additional plot or wish to switch plot sizes, should attend the lottery drawing.

Those who attend will be able to pick their garden plots and start working on them right away. Those unable to attend will be able to choose their plots on the following Monday. Rototilling and Additional Fill and Amendment Requests All requests for rototilling of your garden plots and additional fill must be submitted on the Victory Garden form and will be completed by Monday May 1, 2017, weather permitting. After Saturday, April 22, 2017, gardeners will need to rototill and add fill to plots on their own. All gardeners are asked to keep the walkway around their gardens clear for others.

Take Every Legal Deduction You Can
Tax avoidance is legal. Tax evasion is not and is subject to criminal penalties. According to Investopedia, “Tax avoidance is the use of legal methods to modify an individual's financial situation to lower the amount of income tax owed… by claiming the permissible deductions and credits.” View “Top Seven Senior Tax Breaks” at FindLaw, and double-check with your tax preparer to ensure you’re taking full advantage of deductions and credits to which you are entitled.
