Each year, the Florida Region has its annual meeting in December followed by a holiday celebration. Every year (except last), we have collected gifts for those less fortunate in place of a gift exchange among ourselves.
This year the managers and sales associates, along with the regional office team, Patrick and Stephen, purchased toys, clothes and other items for the Central Florida Coalition for the Homeless.
The toys were delivered by Palm Valley Community Manager Jolene Burns and Florida Regional Manager Gena Paugh. “The kids were so excited. They were looking through the trunk of my car and running over to the bin we filled with toys. It breaks your heart driving up to the coalition, but your heart is full again once you leave the toys and see the smiling faces on the kids (and some adults),” said Gena.
About the Coalition
“The Coalition prides itself on its ability to keep families together during their time of crisis. In fact, we are one of the few emergency shelters in the area that accepts intact families. In addition to shelter and nutritious meals, homeless families at the Coalition work with a case manager to build a budget and savings account, and to develop a plan for self-sufficiency.”
