    Area Attractions/ Entertainment

You won’t want to leave your beautiful Tara Woods home, but if there’s anything to entice you out, it’s the incredible North Fort Myers area.

The first thing you will notice is that this 55-square-mile pocket of southwest Florida is known for having perfect weather year-round. With average low temperatures just touching 64 degrees in January and highs topping 83 in August, North Fort Myers is never too hot or too cold. The median age of residents here is 60, so the residents of Tara Woods fit seamlessly in, although the area also boasts many young professionals and a large number of seasonal residents who don’t want to miss out on the stunning scenery and sunshine.

For its younger residents, the nearby Lee County Public School District has its sights set high: to be a world-class school system, and it’s clearly striving toward this mission. As the ninth-largest district in Florida and the country’s 40th-largest, Lee County is proud to be one of the largest, fully accredited districts in the United States. In addition, the schools are one of the county’s largest employers, with about 10,000 employees working with 82,000 students.

The specific North Fort Myers region is smaller, though, with a population of about 40,000. North Fort Myers is a central location to a myriad of beaches, fishing destinations, golf courses (more than 10 in the immediate area), shopping centers and cultural attractions. In September, check out the lively Lee County Labor Day Family Festival and Redneck Games, featuring live bluegrass music, a hot rod car show and an arts and crafts fair. The community also holds fun events like an antiques and collectables roadshow, a bonsai show, and “Octoberfest,” a celebration for you and your friends.

North Fort Myers has a rich history, so don’t miss the historic downtown waterfront -- or the dozens of local Florida shops. Visit Merchant’s Crossing for excellent food, things for the home and ways to look great and keep healthy. Coral Gates Commons is where you can find more great food and great bargains. This area is emerging from a quiet, rural community into a booming business center, so now is the time to move here.  Year-round, North Fort Myers will charm you with its weather, scenery, shopping and social activities -- all adding up to promise you the best quality of life.

    Tips:
    * Looking for a great restaurant? Try Bianca’s Ristorante Italiano and Pizzaria, 16251 N. Cleveland Ave., suite 19, the region’s top-rated restaurant on Trip Advisor. The food has been called the “best Italian food in Florida,” with attentive service and a comfortable ambiance.
    * Feeling outdoorsy? Swing by Oasis Yacht Club and Boat Rentals for a guided fishing tour, kayak tour, manatee tour or even night shark fishing.
