Hometown America is proud to share our continuing initiatives focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our Florida region recently took part in a company-wide initiative, known as Service Days, designed to offer our team members opportunities to volunteer with charitable organizations in their local communities.  In addition to serving their communities, the events provide the opportunity for building camaraderie and enriching relationships among our teams and the greater community at large.

On May 9, 2024, team members from Florida’s Palm Valley, Fairways Country Club, Lakes at Leesburg, and Lakes of Melbourne, along with several regional team members volunteered at the Orlando Union Rescue Mission. This Mission provides relief and long-term independence and self-sufficiency for those in need.  They offer many services including food and shelter to those most vulnerable in the community. Our team spent the morning prepping and painting the men’s dormitory, which would house up to 40 homeless men that evening.  Our team members spent a heart filled day listening and learning from those who work with the organization and described the day as humbling.  They were pleased to have the dormitory room ready ahead of schedule to provide shelter and comfort for the men in need.

On May 10, 2024, team members from Florida’s Pinelake Gardens and Estates, Tanglewood, Sunny South Estates, and University Lakes, led by their Regional Manager and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Councilmember, volunteered at The Boynton Beach Soup Kitchen. The Soup Kitchen is open 365 days a year and has served over 3 million hot meals since 1983. This organization recently celebrated 40 years of service and dedication to their mission of “Feeding the Heart, Mind and Body”.  Hometown America’s team helped with organizing food donations, packaging and distributing groceries, and serving over 500 hot meals to those in need from the local community.   Our team was honored to take part in this wonderful event.

As a company, we are thankful for our compassionate team members who continue to speak and live our core values of accountability, empowerment, inclusion and service. We look forward to sharing more events from our Service Days initiative in the coming weeks!
