Larry’s Corner

I know many of you have reached out to me about the new cable TV system here at Saddlebrook. The overwhelming question has been-“why the change?”

In 2010, at the time of the digital TV transition, we attempted to save our residents the expense and hassle of getting a new TV or an analog converter box. We were able to help you through the transition without any of those hassles and high costs by creating a system of redundancy that broadcast analog and digital signals. Mission accomplished!

As a result, we used all the available bandwidth, and we were locked into a limited channel lineup. As time went by, I fielded numerous questions from residents who wanted to receive additional channels, higher quality reception/high definition (HD), digital recorders (DVRs) and On Demand. Residents also wanted an alternative to AT&T for upgraded TV and internet.

They wanted to know what I would be doing to provide this for our community. As new residents were moving in and viewing our system, they were less than impressed with our offering. Also, our pioneer residents were less than impressed with the picture quality, and we were getting complaints daily.

Something had to be done, and we began to look for a vendor to help us provide something new and better. After the research, we chose BroadStar, and here we are today. Change can be difficult at the onset, but over time, I hope the quality of programming and entertainment will bring you long-term enjoyment.

Yours truly,

Larry Waco Jr.
