Fairways Country Club has a new activities director. Erin Schaffer is a citizen of the world. Although Erin is originally from Virginia, she grew up as a U.S. Air Force dependent and married a Navy sailor. “The globe is my home,” she says.
As an involved mother to three active children, Erin has plenty of experience in planning and executing activities and events for her children’s school’s PTA, Girl Scouts as well as coaching seasonal sports.
Erin’s experience doesn’t stop there. She has also coordinated and executed military command functions ranging from annual holiday parties to a ship’s homecoming—not a small feat. “The ship’s homecoming has been my most elaborate occasion to date. With the help of an amazing committee, we had over 300 attendees and media involvement, broadcasting the much-anticipated arrival of our loved ones.”
Now, Erin brings her talents to the Fairways, and she’s wasted no time in jumping in with both feet. Please join us in welcoming her to our community. We’re delighted to have someone with your talent and dedication on the team, Erin.
This is Erin Shaffer, your new Activities Director. I could not be more over the moon to have joined Hometown America in assisting the community at Fairways Country Club!
We had a bit of a rocky start but did successfully execute the first Corn Hole Tournament. A HUGE thank you to some amazing residents who stepped up to the plate and pooled their resources in a time of need. What a shining light to the community these people are!
Past Events: July Was a Whirlwind
It’s was a busy month of July at the Fairways. The month kicked off with Movie Night. Top Gun was the feature film, starring Tom Cruise. Everyone was encouraged to dive into character, and the best-dressed award went to John Bukoski, who won a picnic basket, complete with a backgammon game.
Then, on Sunday, July 17, we watched the New York Yankees edge the Boston Red Sox 3–1 at Yankee Stadium. If you missed the action at the Masters Clubhouse, you can check the final game stats.
The following Friday, July 22, Hometown America partnered with The Bridge at Orlando and Hand in Hand Home Care Solutions to host “An Elegant Dinner Dance.” Professional dance instructors taught those two-steps you’ve wanted to learn but didn’t. It sure was a grand affair!
Finally, we sent off July with a bang at Hometown America’s Annual Pool Party on July 27. Lunch was provided, and we beat the heat and splashed around the Masters pool.
Lazy, Hazy Days of August
August takes a slightly more leisurely pace as we battle the heat. However, have no fear; we’re not just going to retire to our hammocks. We’ve got a movie and an outing scheduled. And, of course, there’s plenty of fun on board when you take a cool dip in the pool.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, feedback or even just to chat; all of which will help to ensure that I am doing everything in my power to give you the activities you desire in making your home at Fairways Country Club everything you’ve hoped for.
