Happy New Year everyone! Just think, you could be shoveling snow right now, but you get to live in the warm Florida sunshine. While our neighbors to the north are knee deep in snow, our residents get to enjoy the weather out on our beautiful beaches.

As we move into the new year, we’re excited to announce our first two events of the year, Sweethearts of Branson, a musical tribute to Dolly Parton, and the return of Casino Night! Keep reading this newsletter for more information about each of these events and some community updates.

Smoek Test

Orange County Utilities has informed us that they will be conducting a smoke test of the wastewater sewer lines in our community. Smoke testing of the Fairways wastewater sewer lines began in January and is expected to run for the next 4 to 5 weeks on a Monday-Friday schedule. Hometown America will be sending out One Call notifications to keep everyone informed on the scheduling and all other important testing information.

This test is a standard method of detecting sewer line connection issues. By forcing a white visible water vapor, or “smoke”, through the sewer distribution system, the white smoke exits through the plumbing stack on each individual home. This test will determine any areas where smoke is escaping through the ground and will be flagged for future investigation. It will also help determine if there are any cracks or loose connections in the sewer lines within your home. If cracks or loose connections appear, you can schedule any repairs that are necessary. It is important to follow the instructions on the letter from Hometown America and the flyer from Orange County Utilities regarding what to do before and during the smoke testing. All residents should have received this letter in the mail. If you did not receive your notification, there are extra copies available at the office.

HTA Invitational

We had a great time at the annual Hometown Invitational Golf Tournament on January 24. We kicked off with a 9 a.m. shot gun start and awarded prizes to the day’s winners. Check out photos from the event below and relive all the fun!
