November 2019
From New Jersey to California, Hometown America communities across the country came together on November 11 to honor their neighbors who served across the armed forces. Each community put their own twist on their celebration, and we’d like to share a few stories with you!
Palm Valley, located in Oviedo FL, held a ceremony at the community Walk of Honor, a pathway laid with bricks in memorial and honor of the Armed Guards. Seminole County’s Honor Guard presented the flag, and the community watched as bagpipes played and the Palm Valley choir performed.
In Ramona, CA, residents enjoyed a Veterans Day Lunch from the Oak Tree Ranch community. The team came together to decorate the room and provide a great meal – complete with a special tiramisu.
The Oaks of Weymouth & Liberty Village community in Mays Landing, NJ hosted a celebration featuring special readings and special thank you cards with flag pins for veteran residents. The community honored veterans who were prisoners of war or missing in action with a moment of silence and an educational exhibit.
These events are just a small representation of the dozens of ceremonies held at Hometown America communities. It was great to see how residents came together to support and honor their neighbors on Veterans Day. Thank you to the staff and residents who organized these efforts – and thank you to the men and women who have served in our armed forces!
