Fun facts about the area:
* Little Manatee Springs is located in the 4,000-population Wimauma, Florida, in Hillsborough County. Wimauma, itself, has a rich history. The city was founded for its convenient location -- in 1902, as a halfway point between the railroad that connected Turkey Creek and Bradenton. The name “Wimauma” came from the first letters of the names of the founder’s three daughters (Willie, Maude and Mary).
* The Little Manatee River begins in a swamp and flows about 40 miles before it empties into Tampa Bay.
